Keep what is working
Replacing every item because one finish is dated can create unnecessary cost. A sound tub, serviceable vanity carcass, good tile or functional layout may be worth retaining if it fits the plan and is in good condition.
High-visibility changes
Paint, lighting, mirrors, hardware, faucets, accessories and a well-chosen countertop can change how the room feels. Replacing only the vanity doors or adding organizers may improve function without moving plumbing.
Know when a refresh is not enough
Active leaks, soft substrates, persistent moisture problems, unsafe wiring, failing plumbing or a damaged shower assembly are not cosmetic issues. Diagnose the underlying condition before covering it.
Avoid false economy
A cheap product that is difficult to install, impossible to service or poorly suited to a wet environment can cost more after rework. Spend modestly, but choose materials that are appropriate for the application.
